I would like to apologize formally for dropping the ball on this community. These last couple of weeks have been a garbage fire, but it's still on me, and I will do my very best not to let that happen again. Let's get me back on the rails and start our fall art movement!

Cubism

Set yourself a goal that you think you can complete between today, September 20th, and December 1st. This can be a number of colors completed, a certain palette, a number of styles or supplies used, a word count, a combination of these-- anything that you regard as a challenge. Comment on this post with your goal.

On December 1st, one of the mods will put up a post where you can comment reiterating your goal and whether or not you completed it. If you complete your goal, you get twenty Novelty Beads prompts, with an additional five prompt for every quarter to third you go over your goal, at the mods' discretion.

Goal-setting runs from today, September 20th, to October 15th. The challenge runs from today to December 1st. We will have an Amnesty Week immediately after as usual.

Set your goals in this post, and happy writing!

Things are a little upsetting in the world right now, so let's reflect that in our spring challenge, Dada.

Sign up by leaving a comment in this post with your goal--make sure it's a challenge for you, but otherwise there are no upper or lower limits. Sign-ups are open from today until March 15th. Once you've posted your goal, you have until May 24th (coincidentally, a mod's birthday) to meet it. Meeting your goal gets you twenty novelty beads. Exceeding it by one-half or one-third (whichever is easier to calculate, as heat makes mods lazy) will get you another five novelty beads per half or third.

If you have any questions, ask away!

It's summertime in the northern hemisphere, and where at least one mod lives it is too hot to move outside. Let's give ourselves all something to do inside with a new art movement!

This season's flavor: Superflat.

Good evening, writers! Today ends Luminism. Leave a comment in this post if you've finished your goals that you set way back in October, and a mod will leave you your novelty beads! Don't forget to tell us what your goal was and what you actually did so we can calculate any extra prompts.

Fortunately for at least one mod, it also begins Amnesty Week. During the next week, you may finish your personal challenges, the TV Tropes Game, and The Earth We Walk. When you complete these, leave a comment telling us which one.

Happy writing!

Hello, everyone!

Today's September 24, and that means yesterday was the official last day of the Naturalism Art Movement challenge. As is usual, today begins Amnesty Week. During Amnesty Week, you can wrap up your personal challenge for Naturalism, as well as finishing anything you have left from the Summer of Whump, including Summertime Blues. With [personal profile] finch's permission, Free Candy also counts for Amnesty Week.

This is also our roundup post. If you finished your goal, comment here with what your goal was and what you got done. If you finish things a Free Candy piece (or multiple pieces) or anything from the Summer of Whump (excluding Midsummer Night's Dream), you can also get your Novelty Beads here.

On October 1, we'll be starting the next round of personal challenges. We'll try to be more on the ball this time! (Actually, we're putting a poll up soon, related to that.)

Have fun, and we wish you luck in completing your goals.

Hello hello, Lounge!

It seems like just yesterday that we wrapped up Cloisonnism (probably because it nearly was). If you finished anything during Amnesty Week--Cloissonism or any of the challenges we issued through spring--go ahead and comment here.

Today opens Naturalism, our summer challenge. You can sign up from today to July 15. Set a goal you think you can meet, but make sure it's still challenging for you. Once you've decided, go ahead and post in the comments. Naturalism will run from today, July 2, through Tuesday, September 23. If you complete your goal, you'll get fifteen Novelty Beads, more if you've exceeded your goal by a notable amount.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask, either in the comments or via PM, the Dial-a-Mod post, or the contact info listed there.

I think we'll be unveiling more challenges soon, so watch this space!

Hello hello! Today ends Cloisonnism. Fortunately for many of us, like a certain mod who's been failing to post a completed fic, it also begins Amnesty Week. Finish your personal challenges, The Air We Breathe (Transparent), Reduce and Reuse (Recycle is only valid this week if you're a pinch-hitter), and the Impromptu Spring Challenge (because SWL said so and she ran it).

When you complete any of these, leave a comment telling us which one. If you complete your Cloisonnism goals, tell us what your goal was and what you actually did so we can calculate any extra prompts.

Happy writing!

Hiya, Lounge!

Today, we begin Cloisonnism, the second art movement and seasonal challenge of 2013. Just like with Futurism, you can participate by setting yourself a challenge for the season. Your challenge may range from a word count to a number of colors done to a certain number of styles or supplies completed to a combination of these. Once you've chosen your challenge, comment here so that it's recorded, then go ahead and get started. You can sign up through April 18 (since I totally forgot to post this the last couple of days), though your goal accomplishment starts to count April 1 regardless of when you sign up.

Cloisonnism runs from today, April 3, through Sunday, June 23. We will have an Amnesty Week from Monday, June 24, through Sunday, June 30; if you're behind, that's your chance to catch up. More details on Amnesty Week will be announced when we get there.

We hope you have fun with Cloisonnism!

Hello, writers!

Today marks the end of the Futurism challenge. If you aren't finished, never fear: today also marks the beginning of Amnesty Week, which will last from today, March 25th, through Sunday, March 31st. You may count any pieces posted during Amnesty Week towards your Futurism goal. You may also post a piece for the St. Patrick's Day or Mardi Gras challenges and receive credit for those.

If you have finished your goals, or if you finish during Amnesty Week, leave a comment here and the mods will give you your twenty prompts. Remember, for every quarter to third that you exceed your goal, you get five extra prompts, so be sure to tell us!

Love and chocolate,
your mods

Hello, writers!

Today is technically the last day of Expressionism. However, as with the other Art Movement challenges, we are adding an Amnesty Week that runs from December 1 through December 8. During Amnesty Week, you may complete your personal Expressionism challenge, but you may also tackle the previous challenges: a Harvest Gold Saturation (though if you can do the entire color as a list in the course of a week, more power to you!); a Pumpkin Saturation; military or war-themed color Saturations; and Food & Drink or Crystal Saturations.

When you complete any of those goals, comment here, and a mod will give you your prompts as you comment. We have a shiny, full Novelty Beads table we're just itching to deplete.

Hello, writers!

Today begins our Amnesty Week, which runs from August 26th to August 31st. During Amnesty Week, you may work to complete your personal challenge from Postmodernism, or post a piece that fulfills the Father's Day challenge that took place during the summer. If you complete either of these challenges, or have already completed your Postmodernism personal challenge, post here to receive your reward!

Greetings, writers! Summer is upon us, and with it, our second seasonal challenge, Postmodernism.

Set yourself a goal that you think you can complete between today, June 1st, and August 25th. This can be a number of colors completed, a certain palette, a number of styles or supplies used, a word count, a combination of these-- anything that you regard as a challenge. See the Art Nouveau post for examples, here. Comment on this post with your goal.

On August 25th, one of the mods will put up a post where you can comment reiterating your goal and whether or not you completed it. If you complete your goal, you get twenty Novelty Beads prompts, with an additional five prompt for every quarter to third you go over your goal, at the mods' discretion.

Goal-setting runs from today, June 1st, to June 15th. The challenge runs from today, June 1st to August 25th. We will have an Amnesty Week, dates to be determined.

Set your goals in this post, and happy writing!

Hello, Loungers!

As you know, Art Nouveau draws to a close this month. On May 17, the challenge is technically over.

However, the mods are declaring an Amnesty Week that runs from May 18 to May 25. During this week, not only may you meet the goals you set for Art Nouveau, but you also may finish the Canvas Challenge, the New Beginnings Challenge, Daffodils in Bloom, the Resurrection Challenge, and April Showers and May Flowers, as well as any we add by May 17.

If you want to re-check your goals for Art Nouveau, you can find them here.

Questions, comments, concerns? Ask them here!

Approximately every three months, we’re going to have a challenge. They very, very roughly correspond to seasonal changes.

Art Nouveau is the first round. (New challenge cycle, get it, huh?) The premise is simple. Set yourself a goal to accomplish from March 1 to May 17. This goal can be a number of colors completed, a word count, number of saturations, a palette—basically, anything that is a challenge to you. On May 17, I’ll post asking for you to comment with your goal and whether or not you completed it (and if you went beyond, by how much).

If you complete your goal, you get twenty randomly-chosen Novelty Bead prompts. If you go beyond your goal, you get another five prompts for approximately every measurable quarter to third (because your goal may not be divisible by four but is by three. For example, your goal is to do three colors, and you do four; then you went beyond your goal by a third).

Please comment here with your goal for Art Nouveau. Feel free to set your goal through March 15; your work toward your goal still starts on March 1, no matter what you set. Work toward your goal is not eligible for Graffiti unless it’s part of a different game or challenge.
