I've finally finished making plain text versions of all the color lists. My next step is to add each of them in a text box on each post, but for now, they can be found in the Google Docs repository. (there is apparently a way to hide things from screenreaders but not from sighted people, so I'll be doing that so people don't have to listen to the same list twice)

The text box will look something like this:

As mentioned before, I've been doing some tweaking.
  • Accomplishments is now called Masterpieces. I'm pretty sure I've updated it everywhere and when linked in a sidebar it says "masterpieces (challenges)".
  • Several of the Masterpieces were updated
  • the header image for Masterpieces has been updated
  • there were a few images on Supplies that kept not showing up because they were still on ibb images. So Fingerpainting and Interactive Art's images have been updated.
  • there was a question about Embroidery so I've added some q&as for it
  • the generic banner for 10 threads has been added
  • I added a second site for Chalk since Wired has a limited number of free articles
  • the Rules, Supplies, Styles, and Palettes have been proofread and where necessary edited.
  • The rules were added to the RainbowLists sidebar
  • A few more q&a were added to Styles
  • The new auto tracking sheet post is linked to on Masterpieces

Accomplishments is the only page that isn't art themed and imo, the name is easy to confuse with the goals/challenges. I propose that we rename Accomplishments to Masterworks, Masterpieces, or Showpieces.

Additionally, does anyone have any objections to me modifying some of the accomplishments to better match the theme of it, add supplies and styles that are less used, and maybe add more colors or palettes to them?

[personal profile] thisbluespirit had some suggestions to improve the theme tags for [community profile] rainbowlists

Re. tagging of lists. As I said, there are some lists which I think could use some additional tags (generally where a more specific theme also fits under a wider theme, so they come up in both.) But see what you think! <3

Several lists for more specific types of objects/items, which could maybe use more general "theme: props" adding:

Vermeil (Jewelry)
Gunmetal (weapons)
Saddle Brown (riding equipment) [?]
Tiffany Blue (Jewelry)
Kohl (Make-up) [?]

The props theme feels to me like something more than just list of objects; I propose a 'theme: objects' or 'theme: inanimate objects' to include both props and other objects, like the lists above.

(I'll be implementing their other suggestions)

[personal profile] thisbluespirit  - I'll let you add your comments from the discord if you want

And there are a few lists that are more-or-less pairs: Sable and Or, Sulphur and Angel Cake

So, are there any other suggestions for improvements the tags?  Things that you find annoying or confusing about the current tags?

Added three more Accomplishments. There will be one more (prototype - for the first person to use a color), but I have to finish the art for it

There are now generic goal completion banners for everything but the Palettes. You might want to check your records - I know especially for styles there are folks that probably can take some (or request some).

I've add Questions and Answers (taken from comments from various pages) to everywhere that seemed appropriate. As always, if you have questions or suggestions, the best place to ask is in RainbowLounge, because that's where we're most likely to see it. You can also DM us.

So. Many. Palettes. https://rainbowlists.dreamwidth.org/32949.html

If you have any ideas, please let us know. I have one or two more ideas, but I have only one brain (and it needed a rest, let me tell you...)

Mobile-friendly! And a whole bunch more things you can work towards!

I suspect some of you have already finished some of the new ones. There will be a few more as well, but I have to update the palettes first. ...and the drawing for one of the new accomplishments.

Styles is updated! New styles! Mobile friendly!

Some rewording done and Q&A added. Please let me know if anything is unclear or you have any questions. Nothing was rearranged, but a few pictures were changed

I still need to do generic banners for the styles - generic banners for the supplies is up with a banner for every supply to the level above what I've done a personal banner for.

I added supplies and styles to the list of links on Rainbow Lists sidebar

I'm also going to be splitting accomplishments (and adding several) from palettes (and adding several)

The to-do list has been updated.

These are the styles I'm thinking of adding. I'd like your thoughts and any other styles you'd like to propose
  • life drawing - about minority characters (queer, disabled, people of color, etc)
  • silhouette - romance
  • vaudeville - comedy and humor
  • chiaroscuro - horror and angst
  • en plein air - epistolary (written as a letters, blog posts, private messages, and other communiques)
  • cut-away - an exploration of a place or thing. Characters can be present but not focused on
  • diptych / triptych - two/three pieces that reflect or interact with each other thematically (could involve flashbacks / flash forwards, but can't simply be chronological)
  • panorama - a piece of worldbuilding: history, cultural information, etc
  • mobile - interactive fiction, made in Twine, html, etc with at least 3 branches (basically a choose-your-own-adventure story)
  • folk art - crafts, fingernail art, puppets, or other 3d objects or digital 3d art
  • postcard - 101 to 200 words
  • embroidery floss - dialogue only
thoughts? objections? additions?

We have three palettes for particular colors (Pretty in Pink, Got the Blues, and Green with Envy). I'd like to do the same for the other colors, but there are a few I can't come up with a good name for. The only requirements are that it have the name of the color in it and it not be something super obscure.
  • Yellow - the best I've come up with is Yellow Journalism, which is terrible
  • Brown - I'm currently leaning toward Quick Brown Fox, but I'd like ideas
  • Orange - best I've got is Orange Orchard

Supplies is updated! New format! New supplies! Some new pictures! Mobile friendly!

The new supplies are:
gift wrap
resin
wood
calendar
and palette knife (featuring Mom's and my palette knives)

The no longer updating links in supplies have been changed to things that are updating or to more free-form sources. This is not the final form of supplies - I have some I'm going to add, and I'm going to recode it to be mobile friendly (that is, no longer using a table)

The affected supplies are: oils, stain, modeling clay, pastels, and beading wire. Glue has also been reworded.

If you know of a regularly updating source of prompts, please comment on supplies with a link. I know there a TON of tumblrs that do prompts (because I follow a lot of them)

Please let me know if any of the wording on the supplies page is confusing.

I've started categorizing the colors, so if you go to the tags you'll see 'hue: blue' etc, as well as 'category: metallic'. I may add some other categories like neon and pastel

Some of the updated colors also have generic achievement banners and I'm working on updating the color logo (some of the ovals are football shaped and several of the colors you can see that it was altered from a red one, not to mention that most use Futura and the font should be Helvetica) (... I realize that I'm probably the one to whom that is incredibly blatant)

So far only one has all five banners (color list, retouch, paint-by-numbers, saturation, and tapestry) and that's Salmon

1. On that note, do you consider salmon a shade of pink, orange, or both?
2. to you does white include off-whites like beige or no?
3. does brown include tans and similar colors?

Whew

I've posted 262 completion banners! I only have the ones for ShadowSong26 left.

I'll be creating generic banners after this to help keep up from getting backlogged again, at least for accomplishments that have been done before - I'm not going through all 300+ colors to make banners for them all.

I've done about 170 colors, including paint-by-numbers, saturations, retouches, and tapestries.

EDIT: ALL the banners are done now - a total of 347 images. I've started a new Completion Claim post in Rainbowlists and (hopefully) changed all the links for it. I linked it from the old one as well, just in case.

This is mostly for my reference, but please feel free to point out other things

Currently working on:
- Prototype achievement art
- add links as examples to the Custom Palette Color

In no particular order:
- give out completetion banners that are owed
- take photos for a few of the supplies since I can't find a picture I like (we're artists and crafters here so we have, like, all the supplies)
- do a proper mod introduction post (I'm bad at talking about myself, but in short, I'm 41, I'm a graphic designer, and I have way too many hobbies) Done
- update the out of date supplies Done
- close old completion post and make a new one
- tweak the Around the World accomplishment changed it to any six of the World ones, and tagged some more lists as world. It was the largest palette with 8 requirements.
- Maybe tweak some other accomplishments?
- on Rainbowmods update Dial-a-Mod - Done
- on Rainbowlounge make an updated Welcome sticky - Done
- fix the repeat on White Opal - added 'woolgathering'
- fix missing prompt on Outer Space - added 'comet'
- make a post somewhere to crowd-source prompts on DW, websites, tumblr, instagram - comment with them on supplies, noted on the RainbowLounge welcome post as well
- go through rainbowmods and make sure there isn't anything else - done
- give out novelty beads that are owed from previous challenges - done
- improve the rainbowlist color list colors (I'm a graphic designer and the imperfections bug me) - done!
- categorize colors so it's easier to know what color things are (I'll need some opinions on a few of the ambiguous colors) - done except for three that may need an additional hue tag
- link to discord https://discord.gg/dHddKKAN3h - linked on RainbowFic intro post and a few other places
- AO3 collection - created, need to link - linked on RainbowFic intro post
- revamp styles, supplies, palette & achievement pages to be mobile friendly - DONE
- add some more supplies/styles and accomplishments? - new everything added!
- check links on the lists that have links
- create promotion tumblr (probably a sideblog of mine) - linked on RainbowFic intro post
- make a Q&A -  added Q&As to the appropriate pages
- make generic achievement banners - generics for everything  are up
