First of all, I'd like to take a moment to welcome finch as our newest mod. He'll be helping us keep things neat and tidy around here, starting with his fabulous suggestion of the ! Needs Tags tag. So, when you're posting to rainbowfic, feel free to use that if your author, color or story tag is not available. This should result in faster service.

Currently, there's one week left for Light the Flamethrower and the Les XX art movement. There will be amnesty time from the 22nd to the 1st of July, followed by a new art movement personal challenge. In the meantime, we know what you've all been waiting for...




Duck Pond / Bonus Colors, Materials & Such

Colors: Rainbow, Aurora, Prism, Chromophilia, Pepsi Cola, Folly, Fake Blood Red, Neon, Skyblue Pink with Striped Polka Dots, White Opal, Fire Opal, Blue Opal: 5 tickets per color completed during the festivities; you do not have to have started the color after the challenge starts.

Roy G. Biv or Happy Hour palette: 7 tickets per palette completed during the festivities; you do not have to have started the palette after the challenge starts.

Fingerpainting or Retouch: 1 ticket per 1,000 words of either/or.

Novelty Beads or Glitter: 1 ticket per use.

-Posting a story of at least 2,500 words with a carnival in it: 3 tickets for the first 2,500 words shared, 1 ticket for each 1,000 after.

After Hours Drive In / Summer Blockbuster:

BY POPULAR DEMAND! Do a mosaic of at least 2,500 words using your favorite action-oriented media source as the second cannon.

Complete by the deadline for 3 tickets. Bonus ticket if your media source is not /Pacific Rim/ or if it features dinosaurs (SWL apologizes for the sudden dinosaur feature, but she is disappointed in certain theatrical blockbusters of the season).

PLUS, you get another ticket for any subsequent installments using the same second cannon posted during the event period.

IT IS SUMMER WHO CARES IF YOU ADVANCE YOUR PLOT? GO BLOW SOME STUFF UP.

Duck Gallery / Dead Time Prompts: July 30 – August 3

-Dead-Time meaning no more than one hour can be spent on any stories produced (it's like flash fiction).

-And you must use a prompt before pulling a new one, although you can mulligan if nothing comes to you in a day.

-Stories to run in the comm at 1 ticket per. But, you can pull as many as you want through the event. Hurray!

Dunk Tank / New Game:

Works like this...
1) Get together with another author
2) Yell "I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IN STORY Y IF Z HAS HAPPENED INSTEAD OF X" at each other.
3) SWAP UNIVERSES. MAKE IT HAPPEN.
4) You must each post in order to acquire tickets. All erasers, reimaginings, mosaics and otherwise are still applicable.
5) You each get 3 tickets.

Humor and socializing very much encouraged for this game. Don't be shy. It's only water :D.

Kissing Booth / Special Challenge:

Get a card from seasonofkink and achieve bingo it by 23 September for 20 tickets.

> Clarification: this is probably the only time you'll get credit for fanfiction here. Come ticket counting time, you'll have a chance to link to your seasonofkink bingo announcement post.

We cannot award you bingo for original fic posted here, even if you do happen to use prompts from a card that you got from seasonofkink (being as kink bingo is down), but if you were to post such a story here, I bet there's a ticket or two in that for you (IE two tickets per story and you don't actually get to yell bingo at anyone. It's much more time-effective to work at a bingo PLUS YELLING).

I do not understand the ticket thing at all, but I'm always game for dinosaurs. ^_^

The seasonofkink thing looks interesting but also seems (looking at the descriptions on the kink list) to be focused exclusively on sexual-related kinkiness; would pieces involving nonsexual interpretations of the kinks be eligible for the RainbowFic end of that challenge?

Well, there's amnesty week and you can always just do the color for fun.

If you do thing X you get Y number of tickets. Person with the most tickets on 23 Setember gets a stuffie. And yes, there will be actual ticket graphics and a spreadsheet for tracking purposes.

Damn right we are good with nonsexual kink. The third party helping wit the SB2 submissions is known for her work in that department, actually. You could make a hell of a relationship drama out of some dom/sub stuff.

I HAVE QUESTIONS THOUGH, SORRY:

DUCK POND: Is the fingerpainting/retouch cumulative or per piece? (IE, if I post two 500-word fingerpaintings, do I get a ticket, or does it have to be a 1k+ word piece?)

MILK BOTTLE: Can I do a saturation and still get the tickets?

SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER: How loosely/strictly is 'action-oriented' defined? Do crime/cop-centric shows count? (I'm thinking Burn Notice/Graceland more than Law and Order, if that helps -- explosions and gunfights and cover ids, not precincts and courtrooms.) And if I want to do a second one with a different canon, not necessarily for tickets but just because I can think of two I kind of want to do, am I allowed to do the thing?

DUNK TANK: Is there going to be a localized 'tossing ideas around' posts or are we expected to just contact each other here/off the comm? (I am probably not doing this one anyway cause I don't have much to offer anyone, but... I'm curious.)

UNRELATED TO THIS BUT YOU REMINDED ME: If I have colors to submit, do I still send them to subluxate or has that changed? Is there a limit on how many colors I can send at once? I include names and links to actual colors if that changes anyone's mind. >>
