Spring RP: The Hennessy Home

The house sits on a bluff above the sea, with a winding path down to a sandy beach leading away from the yard. It is three stories high, stucco and terracotta, and would look forbiddingly expensive were it not for the worn tire swing hanging from a tree and the flip-flops left strewn around the outdoor pool.

Inside, the house looks much the same--expensive but lived-in. A grand piano, clearly used, dominates one room. Another room has couches and chairs neatly arranged like a museum, with beat-up books and magazines filling its shelves and cupboards. It is light and airy, with huge windows, a well-stocked kitchen, and first-rate entertainment systems.

The first and second floors seem to be generalized living spaces, with the bedrooms on the third floor. The master bedroom is the only exception, and the only one that still seems in use. Multiple other rooms, especially on the third floor, look dusty and unused.

Henri drummed his fingers over his chin, "Well, it looks like Earth, smells quite like Earth and seems..." he paused, glancing around the path that lead up to the house. "To be inhabited by Earth-like flora and fauna. Personally, I would therefor be inclined to conclude it is /not/ Earth, because these little jaunts tend to have a bit of trickery about them."

He smiled as well, "Ah, forgive me though for assuming you are familiar with Earth let alone from it. That was presumptuous of me."

Sayer waved a hand impatiently as she set her cane onto the path, almost letting out a sigh of relief for being off the sand. She paused, letting her feet orient under herself for just a moment.

"I am generally of Earth, so yes, I am aware. I was, just moments ago still, in a place significantly less full of sand and more full of plush carpets. Among other plush things. Plush things she'd much rather be handling, than this path up toward the house.

Henri regarded the path before them. Part of him insisted it wasn't much; in fact, it served a purpose as something he could have chased his children up or strolled along, filling the air with sweet words for someone who had sparked his interest.

Case in point.

Another part of him insisted the incline had an unforgivable unkindness behind it, besides wishing quite a lot for Drake or Sabine to at least be following along, somewhere behind him and Sayer.

"Well," he said to a rather heavy step, "The thing about paths, at least human-made ones, is that they do have ends. And who knows? Perhaps they have a Persian rug up there."

Sayer let out a laugh. "Yes, a rug, indeed," she gave the man along side of her an honest smile, which served to make her look older, rather than younger. There were lines on her face that only came out when her face was open.

Sayer shook her head at the random turn of the conversation, but was unable to stop from continuing. "Perhaps even a duvet or a overstuffed arm chair?" She offered. "An ottoman puff? I do love to put my feet up on plush things," she snorted.

A laugh which Henri returned. "Ottomans," he said, "Are a sign that humans have at least *approached* a truly civilized society."

All points he seemed to be quite serious about, all merriment, all faintly playful jab at a tumbled stone which had almost managed to creep out of the sedge and onto the path.

"Also, perhaps a grand hearth, not too modern? A bearskin rug if there's nothing Persian to be had? Or, is that not the sort of plushness you prefer?"

"Does the rug come with a naked and nubile young thing tied ontop of it?" Sayer asked, not bothering to censor her words, she liked shocking people. However, she did not feel like that would shock this gentleman. She turned her head to the side and offered Henri a sly smile. "I'd also settle for sheepskin, also perfectly lovely. And I suppose bondage is not a requirement, that can always be corrected, if the rug is there."

Henri thought on this as if rather considering the placement of a statue in a garden- his jaw working slightly and his gaze flitting about the edges of the path. "Well, as there are few rooms not improved by ottomans, there are very few objects not improved by all things nubile, young and willing. Although, one can always combine the two and fashion an ottoman from someone nubile, young and willing, as was the fashion back when I was young myself."

"Ah yes," Sayer nodded and started up the steps to the deck, hand gripped firmly around her cane handle. "Those are the best kind of ottoman's," she laughed when she reached the top and turned to look back at Henri, although her eye was caught by the view, and she paused, letting herself drink in the sight. It was almost as good as a human ottoman. Almost better.
