Spring RP: The Hennessy Home

The house sits on a bluff above the sea, with a winding path down to a sandy beach leading away from the yard. It is three stories high, stucco and terracotta, and would look forbiddingly expensive were it not for the worn tire swing hanging from a tree and the flip-flops left strewn around the outdoor pool.

Inside, the house looks much the same--expensive but lived-in. A grand piano, clearly used, dominates one room. Another room has couches and chairs neatly arranged like a museum, with beat-up books and magazines filling its shelves and cupboards. It is light and airy, with huge windows, a well-stocked kitchen, and first-rate entertainment systems.

The first and second floors seem to be generalized living spaces, with the bedrooms on the third floor. The master bedroom is the only exception, and the only one that still seems in use. Multiple other rooms, especially on the third floor, look dusty and unused.

Siebenkas bit back what just might have been a chuckle to nod. "Yes. I'm his father, actually. Not that that fact gives me leave to intrude on your property..."

He paused briefly, considering what a habitable, seaside property would have gone for back in his own realm.

"...or to make you feel guilty for roaming there as you like."

Jack laughed, and shook his head. "Oh, don't worry about it. It's not guilt from you, it's residual guilt from my parents being quietly horrified at my propensity to be naked. It happens, it's no big. Anyway, so you're Zephyr's father? I officially grant you permission to wander around as much as you like. And, uh, nice to meet you. I've heard a lot."

"Likewise. And thank you, Jack." Having said so, Siebenkas made off with his tie, rolling it around his hand before slipping it into his pocket. "I believe I will take you up on that. I don't have quite Zephyr's fondness for shorelines, but I've been missing them since, well, that little jaunt the two of you had not that long ago. Zephyr says your an excellent student, by the way."

Well, Zephyr had said a lot of things. Many of which were not typical for a person speaking to their father, though they had been /very/ enthusiastic, and so Siebenkas had accepted them for what they were- stories of happiness. He did wonder very briefly if perhaps Jack's parents weren't quite so open-minded. But, then again, not every set of parents included people who were both capable of philosophizing for hours on end on why nakedness was /good/, as had been the case with him and Nathalie back in Taber.

"A student with an excellent teacher," Jack said, and added, "Although I admit to being a little worried as to what, exactly, he told you I was studying." Because, well, there were only so many things you wanted someone else's parents to know about you.

Hell, there were only a certain number of things you wanted your parents to know about you.

The steadiness of Siebenkas's gaze might have faltered a little at that, which probably made the truth of the matter quite obvious to Jack. However, he offered quite diplomatically, "Well, he sounded like a child at a carnival through most of it, but if you have any concerns as to your reputation, I am here now, taking advantage of your beach."

Jack snickered, entirely by accident, and gave Siebenkas an apologetic look as followup. "Sorry, I just... my reputation was shot when I was born. It's not exactly a concern of mine. And I'm glad you're enjoying the beach."

"That could have been phrased better," Siebenkas admitted. "I know. But, I also know at least twp people you've made very happy and I doubt they're alone. Consider too that most allegedly decent people chase interlopers off of their beaches with sticks, while you're willing to share."

"Yeah..." Jack shrugged, and tried not to smile-- he'd made Zephyr happy! And probably Pip too. "The no-trespassing signs are mostly just for show. They're from my grandfather's time, may the bigoted old buzzard rest in peace, and we just don't bother."

"They've become part of the scenery."

Siebenkas, who had been standing closer to one than he normally would have admitted, moseyed over and gave it a careful thump. While the sign was perfectly serviceable from a distance, up close, the paint had sheered off in placed and rust leaked out of the screws.

"Anyway, that's awfully generous of you and I do appreciate it. The water's fairly safe for wading in? I saw some seaweed washed up so I'm guessing no squamous acid or other exciting additions."

(OOC: if you recall the brief mention of people-eating jelly in Briar Rose's story...)

"Since I'm not even sure what squamous acid even is, I suspect we don't have it. It's fine." Jack nodded down the beach at the kids splashing in and out of the water. "No screaming or face melting down there, anyway."

(ooc: I wish to know more about people-eating jelly.)

"I /believe/ if I've got your era correct," Siebenkas began, "You would call it a 'weapon of mass destruction'. Never had the displeasure myself, but I do have children who don't look before they get into things."

A bit of a soft sigh after, he gave one of his pockets a shake. Frowned. And tried the other instead.

"Perhaps you'd care to join me for a stroll?" he asked, jiggling the flask he'd come up with. "It's cognac."

(OOC: I can fix that! *notes ensue*)
