Winter RP: The Citadel

It's late afternoon, just approaching evening, and one of the less-imposing reception rooms in the Citadel at the heart of the City of Glass is lit up by a glorious sunset. The dry heat of the desert day is starting to die off; the temperature sits at a pleasant level now.

The walls of the room are made of thick, solid glass panes, in deceptively delicate white stone frames. They are punctuated at regular intervals by wall hangings embroidered with intricate geometric patterns, in green and gold. There is a large, extravagant rug, woven in similar colors, covering the floor. The ceiling, high above, is more glass, fogged, and gilded around the edges to match the gold in the tapestries.

One wall is dominated by a pair of double doors that swing open onto an enclosed pleasure garden, with carefully maintained flowers climbing the walls and a murmuring fountain in the center. There are white gravel paths marking out four regular quadrants.

The portals are opening once again...

Oh, there was a dog! Summer liked dogs, especially when they were friendly, and this one was wagging its tail and sitting, so that meant it was friendly. But Mama said she must always ask before petting a dog, except there wasn't anybody here to ask, so that meant she could just pet the dog, right?

Maybe she had better ask the dog first.

"Hello!" she told it, and held out her hand for it to sniff. She wasn't sure if dogs did that, but she knew their cat did, so maybe it would make the dog happy. "Can I pet you? You're pretty!'

He gives a big, dopey doggy-grin and moves to snuffle at her hand, licking it once and then proceeding to nudge it with his head in hopes of pets.

He doesn't know if she's supposed to be out and about by herself like this but he's going to make sure she's not alone anymore. He trots around her once then settles at her side, pressing against her with his tongue lolling out and pleasant expression on his face.

Okay, obviously he was a nice dog and wanted pettings. Summer could do that. She scratched behind his ears, looking for the doggy face of bliss-- tongue lolling out, eyes closed, attempts to shove head into hand.

"It's strange," she told the dog. "I can tell what you're thinking but it's so hard to tell people."

He nudges her with his snout, tucking his head under her chin for a moment before pulling back, stepping to the side a little and letting the light bend around him. He seems to shift and shudder and while there was a dog one minute, a boy about fifteen sits there instead.

"Easier now?" He questions with a tilt of his head. If he had the kind of ears that could perk up, they would be. He's hoping he did good.

Summer yelped, and scooted away from him, her eyes huge. "You're... you're a boy?"

He ducks his head down, almost like he's been reprimanded. "Sorry!" He looks at the ground rather than at her. "Sorry, thought it'd be easier this way. I can go back, I'll be good."
