Challenge Post

Pablo Picasso's Birthday
Now - The End Of October

Pick ten prompts from ten different colors. Use them all in one story.
Reward: 10 novelty beads; 14 if they're all from the same color family (you could also do a gradient if you wanted).

~*~

Trick Or Tweet!
Will run from the 29th to the first of November. Get your plastic pumpkins ready.

I Need A Break
Now - January 2nd

Because we're all super busy over the holidays.
1) Go to http://uselessfacts.net/
2) Pick a fact.
3) The background of the fact you use must be of the same family as a prompt which you have previously finished.
4) Write a story using the fact and the prompt. It should be less than 500 words.
5) Ahh. Brain feels better now!

One soothing novelty bead per fic. One fic per day please (unless you're seriously aiming for 100, and then feel free to post extras on the weekend) (anyone who gets a hundred breaks in is entitled to beadwork by SWL because that is some impressive power drabbling).

Yaaay, challenges! I was hoping there'd be one over Halloween.

Can some of the prompts for Pablo Picasso be from colors you've completed before? Do they have to follow any other particular rules?

In "I Need A Break" (yes I do), by "background of the fact", do you mean that the fact needs to bear some relation to the prompt or do you mean something more specific? (Also, the last sentence seems to have been cut off.)

YOUR WISH HAS BEEN GRANTED.

RE: Picasso: SURE! Every artist has their favorite subject.

RE: I Need A Break... on my screen, the facts display with different colored backgrounds. Please let me know if that's not working for other people (odd browser setup).

Ah! The background colors. Yeah, I see them. That makes sense. Cool.

I will refrain from asking if I get three wishes, even if I really, really want that unicorn pony.

Thank YOU for catching my bad copy (I did that at work today too- must be the moon).

The other two wishes are on reserve until you present your fic tallies at the end of the year. A unicorn pony, you say. This calls for a pith helmet. And some carrots.

With I Need a Break, do you mean that you have to use the fact with a prompt that you did already, or just the prompt you're doing for the piece?

Well, since you can use up to three prompts for stories, you could do both.

I did mean reuse a previous prompt though, since the writer would already be familiar with it and could maybe employ "that other idea" sort of scenarios.

So one of my colors that is coming up is brown, but there are no brown background facts on the Useless Facts website. Is it okay to use orange ones instead?

Close enough! Go for it.

Another question related to the clarification above for Kat, if you reuse a prompt from a previous color, does that count as starting a new color? Or is it just a one off?

Also do all of these count as graffiti?

I did Picasso, but like two hours into Nov. 1st. Not sure if it still counts.
