August Lilith Fair Begins Today!

Greetings, Lounge!

Now that August is upon us (well, for three mods, in two hours and thirty-five minutes), we're running the second part of the Lilith Fair challenge. You may remember the first part from the first week of July. This one is going to go a bit differently, however.

Every day for the first week of August, we will post links to three songs. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a fic based on one of those songs. You may write three fics every day, if all three songs catch your fancy or spark something. Unlike the July Lilith Fair, the fic does not have to involve a female character, though it'd be nice if it did. Every artist will have performed on the relevant stage at an actual Lilith Fair.

There is no minimum word count for this challenge. One to 999 words will get you one Novelty Bead; 1,000 to 1,999 words will get you two Novelty Beads; and so forth. This is per fic, not cumulative. If you write a fic for every song on a given day, you get an extra Novelty Bead. If you write a fic for every song every day, we will come up with an extra prize for you. The roundup and Novelty Bead handout will be on August 8 or thereabouts, so please remember to either keep links handy or be sure your tags include your name.

Without further ado, today's songs!

Main Stage: "Perfect Girl" by Sarah McLachlan
Second Stage: "Four Leaf Clover" by Abra Moore
Village Stage: "Half a Heart" by Jill Sobule

Have fun, and good luck!

Edit, 8/2/14, 1:05AM: I just have three quick clarifications.

First, for as long as SWL's Skindiving challenge goes, you may post up to ten separate entries a day, since you can write up to seven Skindiving fics a day and three August Lilith Fair fics a day. If you are participating in only Skindiving, please limit it to a maximum of seven. If you are only participating in August Lilith Fair, please limit it to the usual maximum of five. There may be an exception, based on the next clarification.

Second, three of the mods, including me, live in Iowa. Posts will be up as close to midnight CDT as possible. You have until midnight your time (if it's behind CDT; if it's ahead, take until midnight CDT, which is five hours behind GMT; you can also check what time that is for you here) to post for the day, even if I've already posted the next day's songs. If, for whatever reason, we do not get the post up around midnight and it's not up until sunrise in Iowa or later, there will be a 24-hour window to post. For instance, if I don't post the songs for August 3 until noon CDT, you will have until noon CDT on August 4 to post your fics. (We'll be somewhat flexible, of course, and let us know if you had an outage or something and couldn't get anything posted until later; this isn't a hard-and-fast time limit.) I will provide a link so you can check what time that is in your time zone. However, as long as it is within my abilities (or those of another mod), the next day's songs will go up around midnight. That means there could be (using my previous example) a twelve-hour window where six prompts are in effect. This is the exception that may occur. If we do have a mistake happen and the challenges for two days end up overlapping, then you may post all six in individual posts on the day of the overlap. I do ask that you try to spread them out, rather than having six posts in a row, but we'll understand if it happens.

Third, all pieces written (or drawn; if you create art, we will work something out for your Novelty Bead reward, as we will if you post Mixed Media) do count as Graffiti.

So if i wanted to do this and my max 7 dead time prompts, I would have to double up, correct?

It certainly may not be an issue, either, depending on how my writing time lines up with SWL as far as getting prompts goes? I just wanted to ask.
