Re: Music

So, since I've been encouraged to post it here...

I've been looking around for some inspirational songs for the Lilith Fair challenge, and I've had a hard time finding anything around the metal/punk/goth genres that's majority-female. So, I would like to ask for recs.

Since that's a bit specific, if anyone else would like to ask for recs, or just rec their favorite female artists/bands regardless of genre, this would be a good opportunity! In the meantime, I'm going to go play around in Songza...

Autumn and Xymox both have occasional female singers. Autumn's Gray Solace (see: The Unshakeable Demon) and Cocteau Twins? Always. Lunarclick if you can find it.

I was mostly aiming for things you might like which might call up recommendations and such. In fact, I thought of another song!

...did you know the Cardigans did a cover of "Iron Man" :D?

Regardless of genre: Seanan McGuire, SJ Tucker, Janelle Monae, Kelly Clarkson, Sharon Knight, hey actually Sharon Knight's part of a metal/goth band. Pandemonaeon. The rest of the band is dudes apparently, but she's the lead vocalist.

The lead vocalist of The Shroud is female. I guess that doesn't count, though, since the rest of the band appears to be male.

Not the genres you're looking for, but: Marina and the Diamonds, Regina Spektor, Natalia Kills, Lindsey Stirling, P!nk, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Dessa, and Thea Gilmore.
