Lilith Fair 1: July 1 through July 8

Hello, lounge! Today begins the first of two Lilith Fair challenges we'll run this summer. This one runs from July 1 through... well, since I'm posting much later in the day than intended, we'll go with 11:59PM on July 8 your local time.

For this challenge, you have three options. You may use a female artist's song as a prompt (when it comes to bands, the majority of members should be girls or women); write about a female character's relationship to music; or write a song for one of your female characters. You may also use all three options. For each one you write, you'll get one Novelty Bead for up to 1,000 words, two for up to 2,000 words, and so forth. Each fic written for this challenge does count as Graffiti, as well.

Sweet. I was just thinking I needed to do more with my female characters.

Would an Illustration meeting the criteria count as, say, 1,000 words?

...Somewhat relatedly, I would like to take this opportunity to ask that if anyone listens to any majority-female metal/punk/goth bands, I'd love some recs in PM. All the ones I was thinking of using- Within Temptation, Epica, Nightwish, Against Me!, etc.- are female-fronted but every or almost every other member is a dude.

I can think of plenty of songs/artists in other genres, so it's not like it affects my ability to do the challenge, but uh... kinda drawing my attention to the fact that I can't think of anybody.

We like to see discussion and interaction by/among members whenever you have a question or discussion topic you might want to post. In this case, since it relates to the current challenge, I especially encourage you to post it. =) The one that comes to mind immediately for me is Hole.

Does it have to be from one of the prompt lists (ie Hills of Iowa or Halloween Orange) or just noting the song or lyric we're inspired by?

Also in "one Novelty Bead for up to 1,0000 words" is the comma in the wrong place or is there an excess zero?

Just note the song or lyrics; it can be any song you'd like.
