More Fun Around Here
Martin Luther King Junior Day Event
Write a story using a Martin Luther King Junior Quote. You may use quotes besides those in the link. Post it by the due date for novelty bead credit. Whatever you post will have to be more thoughtful than the talking heads on the various news channels, so I'm going to thank everyone who participates in advance for not being talking heads.
Due By: January 20th

Story Friending Meme
Write a story of 100-1000 words to serve as an introduction to your story or stories. Something with the themes, characters and stylings that you use most often. If you had no introduction page or story, this would be the one you linked to to answer the question "what are your stories like?"
> You do not have to use prompts, styles or materials.
>> But, if you do, you can post it in
rainbowfic after the event to get credit for those items.
> Please keep it PG.
> Catchy first lines suggested as well as stories that overall capture your voice.
Then, email your introduction to SWL with the following information. SWL = shipwrecklight @ gmail . com
> Your name
> Story name
> Less than 20 word summary of what your story is about
>> Example- Jealous of Roses: a slice-of-life story about a bunch of trained killers.
> 3-10 things your story features
>> Example- inverted tropes, badass women, food porn
> A suggested BGM [background music]/ text you would like to use in place of a suggested BGM link (youtube videos work for the former though)
Your name will be on your intro! Sending to me is just for setup purposes.
Due By: January 24th
The actual event will run the subsequent weekend and we will keep you appraised.

Now I'll have to decide if there's any music that goes with any of my worlds.

Um, that said. Are we meant to be disguising our writing or are we just introducing them? And if we have more than one story, do we write more than one piece?

You may write as many intros as you have stories. Introduce them in the most awesome way you can think of!
Names will absolutely be included. Sending to me is just to get everything formatted all pretty on game day.

Are we to write a story about what our stories are about? A story in a story, so to say...
Or are we just to introduce them. As in: this story is about this, and these are the caracters, and it's inspired by this, and that happens, and there are these twists in the AU's...

But, if you wanted to get meta and have the characters discuss their lives/the story, that would be cool too. Don't feel you need to pull off narrative hijinks just because though!

I'll have more trouble finding background music. :p

Would the intro story be something like that, or not?

I think I'm on to something!

And I'm starting to think I'll need to buckle down and choose which stories I'm most likely going to work on for the challenges here! The easiest thing for me is the music. Summarising half of this is so difficult when I can't just say "there are monsters and shit hits the fan". I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. c:

You know, I may not be the best source of information in that regard. But hey, if you try something and it doesn't work for you- try again!
"there are monsters and shit hits the fan" works for the twenty words or less. I'd read the hell out of that story anyway.

That's all.

I can't wait to read everyone's intro stuff! I'll finally not be lost about what's going on.

Seb is in mine~.

I'm plotting as we speak... LOL.
Oh, then you know I'll love it; I've developed a ridiculous soft spot for Seb. ;)

("Suggested bgm" um I have entire soundtracks. I should probably clean them up and throw them on 8tracks or something.)

I've got a question. My piece is going to be a crossover between my canon and a second story I'm working on, reason being the second story is metafiction and I could have the characters discuss the story and their roles in it. Would that count as a mosaic if I posted it, or are mosaics only for crossovers involving someone else's canon?

You're still welcome to post such a story when you're more available to write. It's OK if it doesn't get to be in the gallery. Hell, I'll still give you party favors if you want. Oh, and if you wait, you can go waaaaaaaaaay over wordcount if you want~.
