Also, you inspired a post about worldbuilding what with Botanicula. Which I finished. LSS- I very much enjoyed it, but it has some /things/ that lend themselves to the discussion of what not to do when worldbuilding.

Excellent! I really wanted to participate, but, I think my brain sort of worked against me. :p Is that when we can revisit any challenges?

I've never heard of Botanicula! But I'm glad to have been of some assistance. From what I've seen of the comments, I know a little introductory thing about everyone's stories will help me ease into the things everyone else knows that I don't quite!

I've always seen posts about what to do with worldbuilding and rarely any commentary on what not to do, so, I really hope you do get to share those with us!

I didn't mind the Paige years (quite liked them, actually), but I think the Prue years were probably the best ones of the show in a lot of ways. Whether that's because of Prue or because the early writing is often the strongest on a series, I don't know.

I totally need something like this. I've got three case brief revisions, one legal memo, and one paper due for school this week, and I've been writing procedures and documentation at work, and honestly, messy and needlessly elaborate things for the sake of fun sounds way, way preferable.

I think a challenge of world building is great. Mine still needs a lot of work so this would be a needed kick in the butt for it. Also like the idea of an introduction game.

But, I would love an introduction type deal. There are so many stories getting posted in Rainbowfic --- which is absolutely *wonderful* -- but I feel a little lost. Maybe everyone could take a second just give a quick summary of the stories they're posting? I'm sure you could make it more fun and awesome than I'm describing. :)

And world building/character building is *always* awesome.

As someone who is new and is very aware that she's missed out on a lot of getting to properly know the stories being posted, I would absolutely love this! I always feel a little silly coming in and not quite knowing the relationship between two characters (or much of the history) when everyone else does. I know it'd help me become a little familiar.

I know exactly how you feel! I've actually been around a little while, but just as I was starting to get a handle on the stories going on, life kind of took over and I got *way* behind (like possibly months) on rainbowfic. And now I feel pretty darned lost and silly myself.

That said, if past awesome ideas are any indication, I expect [personal profile] shipwreck_light and mods are going to come up with something fun to fix this. :)

At first I had been a little uncertain about commenting, since I was coming in very late in the game and in the development of things, but in order to get wet I've got to dive in somehow. I've been following the links in the story section of the form, but, a little rundown wouldn't hurt wrt me fully getting an idea as to what I'm reading. c:

Not to make things sound more intimidating, but some of the stories here have been running for years before the community opened and I was lost on my first day. I realize not everyone has the desire to, you know, jump and ask questions later like everybody did that day.

Which is part of what gave me the idea for intros!

Even though it definitely is intimidating, I'm trying to get as familiar as possible with the stories that are actively posted - and I do know a little game/intro that involves summarising what the stories are about will be a massive help. From a new kid perspective, you'd be a life saver!

In the meantime, I only wish I had discovered this place sooner. Perhaps a year or so earlier than now! :P

I know what you mean. My canon turned three in December, and I've only been posting it here since the summer.

Silly suggestion: I played a game elsewhere of "sum up your canon using the Up Goer Five Editor and it was a riot. But it turned out to be surprisingly good for canon introductions too because it forces you to be so bare bones about it.
