So, I don't know if this is okay but I was thinking of interesting things we could do for the comm and this crossed my mind (in no small part because I've been meaning to do something like this with my own fiction)

What if we had a podficathon. Each of us picks a few fics that they would really like to have recorded by someone and then other people record them.

I don't now, I thought it could be fun. I'm getting a new mic for the weekend and I just thought this could be rather neat. So if anyone is interested, let me know and I can talk to the mods and see about getting it arranged.

I'd be interested if the rules were fairly loose - like, maybe if we could opt in to have [X number, or a number range, or whatever] of our RF fics be eligible for podficcing, and there'd be a list of those that people could podfic from, and then separately we could have people who wanted to be assigned a specific random author to podfic for, with the understanding that not everyone who was eligible would be guaranteed a podfic? Because I'd be up for trying some RF podficcing, and I'm always up for having my works podficced, but I am definitely not up for anything that involves deadlines / a required minimum amount of effort, at the moment. :P

I was not planning on deadlines or anything like that. I was just thinking it would operate like a meme. Someone posts up a main post, people leave their information in threads and pepple can go back to it whenever they feel like they have the time/energy and all that jazz.

Ah, I see. (I tend to associate the "-athon" suffix with Deadlines, I'm not sure why.) I'd definitely be interested in that!

That sounds like a fun idea!

Not that I am ever, ever likely to podfic someone else's fic (I hate how my voice sounds recorded, which I know is probably silly). But it would be fun to leave some fics and see if anyone else wanted to, and if I heard other people's podfics of RF fics, maybe it would inspire me.

Sounds like a good idea to us! Perhaps a stipulation that for the podficathon, no one can podfic their own work, though? All in all, sounds good!

Also, authors must create a list of fics to have podficced.

And of course, novelty beads will be given out.

ETA: The mods will also put up a masterpost, so people can easily check to see what authors have given the go ahead, and to make it easy to link them once posted. :)
