All right, guys, let's get this started.

This is a post for members to post their burning questions to each other. They can be simple, like "when is Character X's birthday," or not so simple "how would you define the relationship between Character X and Character Y?" If there's a story you want that author to talk about, throw in the title (and some points you'd like covered!) and if said author's willing, they can write their answer in a separate post, since I have no idea what the comment word limits are.

Here's how it'll work: an author who's up for answering questions/writing commentaries about stories will leave their name in a comment. Readers who want to ask questions or request stories reply to that comment, and hopefully we'll have some good conversations going!

If you guys request stories, it may be best if you limit them to rainbowfic for the time being, unless the story you've got archived outside the comm is in a public entry.

EDIT: If it's not already obvious, you can ask authors more than one question in however many comments you like. The point is to have a discussion, and it wouldn't be very lively if it stopped at one question per author! Just give the author a chance to finish answering your previous questions, of course.

Finally, Ruth put her foot down. "She wove dissent among us when she was here; I won't let her do it without even being present. You saw yourselves that she grew too weak to return often, and now she's stopped returning at all. It's plain that the plague or something else got to her. In other words, they weren't all comfortable with it - Ruth had Lacey pegged as a troublemaker almost as soon as her husband brought her home, but the others feel it is, at the very least, cruel to leave her to her fate outside.

Oooh, that's a bit cold of Ruth, although I can't blame her in those circumstances.

On the other hand, I suppose it's not too terrible that Lacey never sees her (or the husband) again.

I guess a followup on your explanation there: what about Lacey made Ruth distrust her so much?

Part of it is just Ruth's personality - she was distrustful of the other two as well, before they settled in. She was more distrustful of Lacey as well because her husband met her while she was attending BYU and she thinks Lacey is too liberal.

Is it pretty common for BYU attendees to be seen as more liberal? Because BYU is a Mormon college, right?

It's liberal compared to Ruth's - she was raised in the fundamentalist Mormon sect, in a much smaller town, and so she has a very different perspective from Lacey, who was raised in a (relatively liberal) mainstream Mormon household in a suburb of Salt Lake City.
