Story Bible Sunday

A Story Bible is a place to keep all the details about your story that may or may not come up. This includes things like art reference sheets, character profiles, timelines, maps, snippets you haven't found a place for yet, special items, and a whole lot more.

Optional topic: Tell us about a home or building that's important

You don't have to limit yourself to that - you can tell us anything you feel like sharing. And despite the name, you can comment on this any time until the next one goes up (in approximately two weeks)

I have one story bible, for a novel I didn't finish. I am contemplating turning it into an RPG adventure, and am only slightly held back by the fact that there is no pulp fiction detective story RPG system that does not also have supernatural elements. Which means either I will have to rewrite the whole thing in the world of one of these supernatural games, which does not appeal, since it would just be splashing unnecessary stuff on top, or I have to write my own TTRPG system for it. I have sort of been working on the latter, but you see how projects spawn projects? Yeah it might be a while, if it ever happens.

The trouble with a story bible, for me, is that if I make the bible before I write the story, I will lose all interest in writing the story, as happened with my pulp. And if I have already written the story, then I don't need a bible. So what I have instead are running notes, constantly added to, and the power of hyperfocus that means I can somehow keep more detail in my head than is perhaps advisable.

And of course now that I have been writing with Minutia, the power of a second brain. :)
