I actually have no active stories where I bring in the base worldbuilding. The Epic is based on a TTRPG which is loosely based on late Song Dynasty, and we're constantly joking about how it is ✨ahistorical✨ so that we can facilitate a story point without getting mired in research. (You still do some research; for one I found out the earliest possible time they might have had eyeglasses, which was nowhere near late Song Dynasty (though they did have magnifying glasses).

Correct in only the smallest details!

I still end up doing a lot of worldbuilding, but it's more to do with organizations and people's relationships to one another.
