Opening Ceremonies

Hello, writers, and welcome to the first ever RainbowFic Olympics!



Let's get this party started with our Opening Ceremonies. From today until July 8th, post a Canvas story for graffiti credit. Post a link here and receive a novelty bead for a story 0-500 words, and an extra bead for every extra five hundred words.



Also beginning today, and continuing all summer:

Lap Swimming: Write the same story four times, as a miniature, a 500-1000 word story, a 1000-5000 word story, and a 5000-10k story. Earn ten novelty beads for completing the entire event.

Hurdles: Give another author a saturation to write. They will give you one as well. Whoever finishes first, wins the match. Ten novelty beads for the winner, five for the second-place.

Synchronized Swimming: Pick a partner and do some interactive art! Receive a novelty bead for a story 0-500 words, and an extra bead for every extra five hundred words.

Triathalon: Over the course of the summer post a miniature, a portrait, and a mural. Earn ten novelty beads for completing the entire event.

The special color, Olympic Gold, and the Summer Blockbuster event also begin today.


Use this post to find partners for the events requiring such. Let the games begin!

Hi guys! I'd love someone to run hurdles with, and someone to do some synchronized swimming! Anyone up for either?

You will probably have an easy win with me and hurdles but I am totally up for it anyway! Synchronized swimming is also cool if you want to.

Hahahaha yessss let us do the thing. BOTH THINGS. How long would you like to have the hurdles? I figure both colors should be the same length, for fairness. And what would you like to do for swimming?

I'm not really sure on specifics! Uhm, toss characters together, something very gay, possible setting summery beach and/or cruise ship? Alternately double up and Summer Blockbuster, idk. Or both! Or an idea you have!

*raises hand* You know how I am with writing, but I'd love to team up to do some synchronized swimming. Or hurdles I guess, but uh, I would definitely lose. So. XD I'd love to try and write together, though.

What would be the best way to d this you think? I don't mind working through email or PMs but if you have Google Hangouts or something it might be easier? I don't know. Ho hum, ho hum.

(Also, I've had a bit of writers block myself, so we can totally make this a short piece. Between that and how many people want to poke you and do things...)

Google Hangouts and me don't get along very well but I do have them. Maybe we could make a shared Googledoc and trade off writing?

Okay, so I don't write a whole lot lately, because... well, writing is hard. But I would really like to, so if anyone wants to team up for some Synchronized Swimming, hit me up and we'll see if something can come of it?

...I'd also be up for someone to run hurdles with if we're allowed to do 10/15-prompt saturations. Not sure if that's acceptable or not, but it's another option.

I've never done a saturation before, but I am up to try a Hurdle. I'd like to stick with both of us using a ten-prompt list for my first attempt, though. Anyone want to race? :)

Unrelated thing: Do we claim all of the novelty beads here for the individual events, or at their particular intro posts? (Say, if we wrote something for Shooting, Boxing and Fencing, do we post an "I did it" post on the post talking about that event, or do we do it here?)
I'm confused, for some reason. It's probably just me. ^^;
