Kesshare turned to see who was calling her, and found a girl a bit younger, who seemed very lost and more than a little frightened. She softened her expression a small, calculated amount--even if the girl didn't know what had brought them here, finding out what she had perceived about the experience might help Kesshare unravel it and, more importantly, undo it. That meant pretending sympathy, which was never easy.
"I'm sorry, I don't know either of those people," she said. "I'm guessing that you weren't expecting to be here any more than I was?"
