"I go down the stairs without it some mornings," Bill confided. "Brenda's
given up on telling me not to. It's not a good idea, and you shouldn't do
it. Some mornings, I can't handle--I can't face that I don't have my real
leg anymore. Usually it's because of a dream or something the night before.
Those days, I get the kids to school, then go back home and take it off
right away."
