He almost could have said it was like magic when the clearing began to fill with people.
Then again, Lucien actually knew some magic. Not that he'd done much, having no Aethies of his own. But, the arrival on his senses already attuned to the way spirit based half-wonders worked, it was hardly a surprise. He could almost smell them. As in before they showed up. Some of them had scents, and some read like sorcer-sorts themselves to that un-feeling that seemed to start under his nails and wind into her nerves from there. Others blinked in and out or passed through him or stared his way as if he was the strange one out of everyone there.
Well, probably none of them were strange to themselves. How would that work anyway?
As he was moseying back up along the stream for his third or fourth inspection of the ever-growing assembly, he finally happened on someone else appreciating the water in all its toe-numbing glory.
That someone else being a really, really pretty girl. Like, so pretty? She made Lucien smile just to get to see her.
Maybe she also happened to look just about in that age range of "You're a little too young for me" and giggling. Lucien still sat pretty close to her (an arm's length between and to the side, like gentlepersons were supposed to do) and did his best to make himself look interesting. And wet. If they were both wet, that was totally a conversation starter, right?
Although, maybe he shouldn't have just dumped water over his head to that end, since it might have felt nice, but it also went right in his eyes and somehow or other this made him sneeze.
