"Persephone came to us when she was five. We adopted her when she was six." Zach stretched out her legs. "She's four years younger than Evelyn, and she latched onto her. They're best friends, even with the age difference. She's another kid who had at least two and a half strikes against her in the foster system, and we wouldn't let her go for anything. She's gotten rambunctious--she can be rambunctious now, so it's a good thing. She likes video games, absolutely loves racing her bike against the other kids in the neighborhood, and is the best speller in her class. She's grown so much in the last three years, it's incredible. We're so lucky to have her."
