"Well, sure," Marietta said. "I mean, you get involved with someone, it's not an exact science, it's people, and people aren't always predictable. Whenever feelings get in the mix, there's always a chance someone's going to get hurt, even if it's nobody's fault." She shrugged. "Which sucks, sure. But it's worth it, in the end.
