The second link is how I am (trying to) do it! I am one of those people who find outlines kill motivation. I outline very, very loosely, with major events in the far distance afforded a word or two while the rest stays in my head, and then I put in a few more bulletpoints to hit only close to where I am now in the writing.
As a GM, also, those plans are in constant flux, so I have to rewrite it, and just keep a tally of what has been established, and what secrets explain the current events or are yet to be discovered. So the bible is built and deleted as I go on.
Now we are trying to convert a game to a story and I want a bible but... I am struggling a bit because everything I put down becomes suddenly important, since it is shared with my partner rather than in a flux state on Simplenote.
