Earth Day: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

In honor of Earth Day, April 22, we're celebrating with the three Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

Reduce a Portrait or Mural to a Miniature.

Reuse something you posted previously as a Retouch.

Recycle someone else's fic.

Reducing a fic earns you a Novelty Bead. Reusing one earns one Novelty Bead, plus one per thousand words. Both of these are due on April 22.

Recycling is a little different. For six days, until April 22, we're holding signups in the comments. On Earth Day, we'll randomly assign another author to you. You then have until April 29 to post a remixed version of one of your assigned author's fics. Take one of their fics and rewrite it. There's no minimum length requirement. If you choose to sign up for this one, please bear in mind that any author may be assigned to your fic; you should be comfortable with the idea of anyone playing in your sandbox. That said, you may specify anything that's off-limits. If you have multiple universes, you can allow just one or two, or if you have specific pieces you don't want touched, you can say as much in your comment. We'll make sure your assigned author sees it. Recycling earns you one Novelty Bead for participation and another per thousand words.

All these also count as Graffiti. We'll have a roundup post on April 30.

Sure, I'll sign up for Recycle. Off-limits are anything cowritten and any Poly AU mythology. The rest is fair game.

I'll take a stab at Recycle, but only Commonplace and only the main storyline, not the AUs. (That's still like 90% of everything I've ever posted, so hopefully that's ok.)

Do I need to specify that I want to both do the recycling and be recycled? Or is that a given?

That's a given. It's also totally okay that AUs are off-limits.

The only things off limits are anything co-written, or a crossover with a universe of someone in RainbowFic. If it's a non-rainbowfic universe (ie, the one Joy is a Time Lord thing) it's fair game.

I'm game for recycle! Basically anything is fair game except my co-written/crossover-with-another-RF-member's-canon stuff. Whatever universe you'd like to play in is fine with me.

I just have a small question regarding the Reduce : is it allowed to be a miniature collection? Or must it really be 1 miniature?

It needs to be one miniature.

I am incredibly nervous at the prospect of remixing, but I will try.

As for my stuff, everything is fair game except The Eighth Saimar canon and any Unusual Florida AUs (of which I think there are only like two pieces anyway).
